Fierce Women is a card game that celebrates great women and the contributions they made to the fields of culture, science, feminism, human rights and art.
A deck consists of 60 cards, representing 60 women, including Virginia Woolf, Temple Grandin, Frida Kahlo, Ada Lovelace, Yayoi Kusama, Naomi Klein, Hannah Arendt, Tracey Emin and many more.
I was chosen to be one of the eight female artists to illustrate the cards. My illustrations portray the women in a way that makes them recognizeable, while their achievement/field of study/work of art is reduced to a symbol and incorporated in the portrait.

Victoria Woodhull — American leader of the woman's suffrage movement. The first woman to run for President of the United States (1872.)
Virginia Woolf — English writer considered to be one of the foremost modernists of the twentieth century and a pioneer in the use of stream of consciousness as a narrative device.
Vera Rubin — American astronomer who pioneered work on galaxy rotation rates.
Germaine Dulac — French filmmaker, film theorist, journalist and critic and Helen Keller — American author, political activist, lecturer and the first deaf-blind person to earn a bachelor of arts degree.
Yayoi Kusama — Japanese artist, writer and a precursor of the pop art, minimalist and feminist art movements.
Ada Lovelace — English mathematician and writer, regarded as the first to recognise the full potential of a "computing machine" and the first computer programmer, Bertha von Suttner — Austrian-Bohemian pacifist and novelist, the second female Nobel laureate, the first woman to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize and bell hooks — American author, professor, feminist, and social activist.
