The Croatian four-piece audio visual band Žen is impossible to classify in any specific genre. For that reason, their music has been described as kraut math post synth psy indie rock. Album name Sunčani ljudi (en. Sunny People) suggests lightness and playfulness, while in reality, the foundations of every track are built on deep feelings and experiences that were not always positive and light.

While creating the illustrations and designing the record sleeve, it was important to emphasize the dualism – parallel existence of joy and raw, hard emotions. The cental motifs I chose for communicating that idea are a circus tent and a volcano. Both objects generate warmth in their own way. While one symbolizes fun and happiness, the other stands for dark self-destructive power. Have a listen!
